Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, I grew up surrounded by the ocean, Hula, and a multicultural family. My father is an amateur violinist and classical music fanatic, while my mother has always loved to sing. They introduced me to music at a young age (my father to classical music, and my mother to Chinese music), but I didn’t start violin and piano lessons until I was 6 years old. I am extremely grateful for my parents’ unwavering belief in me, as their support was the reason why I always knew I wanted to grow up, go to conservatory, and become a musician. More importantly, however, I want to become a person my parents would be proud of.

A few months ago, I moved to New York City to attend conservatory. I started this blog as a means to capture the lessons I’m learning as an artist navigating the Big Apple on her own. But this isn’t just about me. This blog is a safe space where musicians and creatives of all skill levels can connect, reflect, and encourage one another. So, whether you’re here as a fellow musician seeking inspiration, a beginner looking for help and encouragement, or just a curious reader who happened to stumble upon this blog, I’m glad you’re here.
